Through Medicare Helplines and Assisting Patients Impacted by Network Changes,
Company Becomes an Indispensable Partner for Many Healthcare Providers
(BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Jan. 23, 2020) — MedicareCompareUSA announced today a corporate reorganization that includes the formation of a holding company; new senior-level appointments; and an enhanced focus in helping hospitals attain, retain and serve Medicare patients. The move was propelled by the rapid growth of the company, which today supports more than 600 hospitals and health systems that collectively care for more than 10% of the nation’s Medicare population. The company anticipates serving more than 1,000 clients by the end of 2022, representing about 20% of the marketplace.
Central to the reorganization is the creation of MCUSA Holding Company, which will be responsible for development and adherence to the corporate mission and oversight of business unit operations. Initial divisions within MCUSA Holding Company are MedicareCompareUSA and MCUSA Consulting plus additional business units and joint ventures with partners who share MCUSA’s mission and can add significant value to a hospital’s Medicare strategy and marketplace positioning.
Concurrent with the reorganization, Kerri Lenderman has assumed the role of chief executive officer. Formerly the company’s managing partner and director of consulting services, Lenderman had been serving as acting CEO for much of 2019. Company founder and immediate past CEO Paul Gauthier has undertaken the newly created position of chairman of the board of MCUSA Holding Company and in that role will continue to be actively involved in the company’s strategic direction and growth.
“As America’s population continues to age and as hospitals continue to place enhanced value in retaining their Medicare patients, MedicareCompareUSA has experienced unprecedented marketplace growth and receptivity,” said Gauthier. “This reorganization will allow us to better serve our existing and future clients by offering an expanded array of services that will position them as the marketplace leader in the Medicare space while fulfilling their strategic and business goals.”
Toward that end, Gauthier says that the new structure will help the organization better address the unique needs of its larger national clients through the streamlining of many of its internal common functions. “Most importantly it brings collective strengths to the needs of providers while assuring high compliance standards across all activities. Today we are better positioned than ever to support providers of all sizes through relationships that presently connect over 35,000 agents and mega-sized insurance call centers,” he says.
MedicareCompareUSA, formed in 2011, is the nation’s largest Medicare insurance-solution network for national and community hospital systems and physician groups. The company helps Medicare beneficiaries select a health plan that is accepted by their existing hospital and doctors through dedicated helplines that provide free and unbiased information about the health plan options available in their community.
MCUSA Consulting is a full-service consulting practice specializing in Medicare insurance strategic planning, CMS compliant patient messaging and Medicare insurer relations. MCUSA Consulting provides Medicare patient and market analytics, patient communication services (digital, mail and telephonic), and compliance audit and review, all geared to assist health systems in growing Medicare market share and protect existing patient-provider relationships. The company is considered the national expert in assisting health systems and patients impacted by Medicare Advantage contract terminations or when a plan leaves a service area.
“Timing is critical when a national Medicare Advantage contract is terminated,” says Lenderman. “Tens of thousands of Medicare patients can be impacted in one fail swoop, requiring swift and clear patient communication and agent coordination. Our proven track record provides compliant and systematic support to mobilize all necessary resources for a successful outcome.”
Looking ahead, Lenderman says that in 2020 the company will launch a new initiative focused on the unique needs of rural health clinics and critical access hospitals. In addition, the company hopes to partner with an insurer to bring to market a Medicare Supplement product that will support Accountable Care Organizations; Medicare population management initiatives; and, to the extent possible, patient-centric medical homes.
With its strong foundation and impressive track record, an increasing number of hospitals and doctors are looking to MedicareCompareUSA and MCUSA Consulting as an indispensable part of a proactive patient-communication and population-management strategy.
